Mediterranean Gazpacho SoupGazpacho originated in southern Spain. It is a cold soup and requires no cooking. Moreover, it is cholesterol free, low in calories and high in vitamin C.

The main ingredient of Gazpacho is tomato, which grows in abundance in southern Spain. But as you might imagine, being Spanish in origin, it also contains onions, garlic and olive oil. Again, these are readily available and, of course, inexpensive.

Tomatoes provide the sweetness, as well has being high in vitamin C, and paprika gives the soup a bit of spice.

The ingredients are:

25 g fresh breadcrumbs

2-3 tablespoons virgin olive oil

1/4 teaspoon paprika

225 g tomatoes

3 spring onions

small clove of garlic

1/4 of a large cucumber

1/2 red pepper

1/2 yellow pepper

Juice of a lime

450ml tomato juice

salt and freshly ground black pepper Read more …

Why Choose Natural Gas Grills

So you’re in the market for a new gas barbeque grill. You’re just not sure whether it should be propane or natural gas (aka methane gas). Well, the first thing you need to consider is the cost of running a gas line to your new gas grill. If you already have gas in your house, the cost should be minimal.

If you have to run a line to your house in order to fuel your gas grill – well that’s a whole other story. Will you be using gas to service some or all of the energy needs in your home? If so, then the cost of the meter and line are insignificant. You would be using it whether you had natural gas grills or not.

If you will be using the gas only for your barbeque, then the entire cost of the meter rental, the gas line, and fuel must be considered an expense of having natural gas grills. This can be a very expensive proposition.

If, however, it is feasible to run a gas line to your new gas barbeque grill, there are many benefits of having natural gas grills. Some of these benefits are discussed below:

Fuel Cost

Methane gas costs much less than propane – in some places up to 50% less. In order to do a true comparison, you need to determine the cost of fuel per Therm. Methane gas is 1 Them per 1 gallon of fuel. Propane is 1 Therm per 1.1 gallons of fuel.

If you consider that methane gas is averaging $0.80 per Therm while propane is averaging $1.63 per Therm then the cost of fuel in 50% cheaper if you use methane gas.

This is not an insignificant differential. Over the course of your grilling “career”, you can save a great deal by using methane gas.

Environmental Issues

Methane gas burns much cleaner than Propane – so there is less environmental impact with its use. You don’t have as much exhaust from burning methane as you do with propane – which means it doesn’t pollute the environment as much and it doesn’t hang around to ruin the flavor of your food.
